Enjoy Art & Wine in Flagler County!
The Flagler Art & Wine Shuttle, LLC was the creation of Frank Gromling, owner of Ocean Art Gallery, in February 2014 as a way to promote the art galleries in Flagler Beach and Palm Coast’s Hammock area. He realized that all too often residents of Flagler Beach did not visit the galleries in The Hammock and many Hammock residents did not visit Flagler Beach galleries.
He envisioned a shuttle system of small passenger vans operating on a continuous loop on State Highway A1A in what he called the A1A Art Corridor. Designed as an effective way to allow residents and visitors to visit the art galleries, without the hassle and gas-wasting cost of driving and parking automobiles, passengers could get on and off the vans at the art venues that interested them.
Frank also wanted the Shuttle to benefit a local charity so he arranged for all net proceeds, after the direct costs of the vans, signs, and necessary supplies, to be donated to a local 501(C)(3) non-profit. The Shuttles have donated to the United Way Women’s Initiative of Flagler County, the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach, and Hope to Help Foundation.
Comfortable air conditioned vans operated by professional drivers provide safe and efficient trips between the designated stops. The eight art venues included in the December 9th Shuttle experience are The Baliker Gallery, Hammock Wine & Cheese, Art LaMay Studio, Ocean Art Gallery, Gallery of Local Art, SeaCasas, plus two new venues: Daytona State College and Grand Living Realty Design Center. Daytona State College will showcase its collection of more than 200 artworks by local artists donated to the College by the Gargiulo Art Foundation. Grand Living Realty’s Design Center will display more than 30 pieces of art provided in a partnership with Ocean Art Gallery.
Each art venue has special offerings to please art lovers. While the art collection at Daytona State College is not for sale, art at all other locations is available for purchase.
HOW THE SHUTTLE WORKS
The Shuttle begins at 12:00 noon when Registration Tables open and ends at 6:00 PM.
This Shuttle has two Parking Lots, each with a Registration Table: one in Palm Coast at Daytona State College and one in Flagler Beach at the Flagler Beach Library, with each having plenty of free parking. Palm Coast residents and those guests coming over the Hammock Dunes Bridge from the Hammock should use Daytona State College’s lot and registration table. Flagler Beach residents and those coming over the Flagler Beach Bridge should use the Flagler Beach Library lot and registration table.
Each Registration Table will have two lines: “Prepaid Only” for those who purchased their tickets online for $20 at FlaglerOceanArtGallery.com/Shuttle and “Buy Today $25” for those who will use cash or credit cards to buy tickets the day of the event.
Guests will receive a Shuttle Wristband and a Shuttle Bag containing the Shuttle Program, plus advertising materials and coupons from the Shuttle Sponsors. Wristbands must be worn to enable Drivers and Ambassadors to grant access to the vans during the Shuttle.
Vans will begin loading at 12:15 noon with the first vans departing at 12:30 pm.
South Lot (Flagler Beach Library):
Van (A) departs at 12:30 pm. This van will travel to the Flagler Beach venues (SeaCasas, Gallery of Local Art, and Ocean Art Gallery) before heading to the Hammock via Colbert Lane where it will stop at Grand Living Realty’s Design Center, Daytona State College, The Baliker Gallery, Hammock Wine & Cheese, and Art LaMay Studio before returning to the Flagler Beach Library to begin its route again.
Van B will depart at 12:45 pm and follow the same routing as described above for Van A.
North Lot (Daytona State College):
Van C will depart at 12:30. This Van will travel to The Baliker Gallery, Hammock Wine & Cheese, Art LaMay Studio, and then head south to Flagler Beach where it will stop briefly at the Flagler Beach Library for passengers before stopping at Sea Casas, Gallery of Local Art, and Ocean Art Gallery. Then the van will head north to Grand Living Realty’s Design Center and returning to Daytona State College.
